Building For The Future

We are now into June and today sees two youngsters in Aiden O’Brien and Sid Nelson commit their own futures to the club. O’Brien has put pen to paper on a two year deal, whereas future captain Nelson has agreed a three year extension. As a fan, I see both of as great news, with Fred Onyedinma also in talks, it signals the intent of the club going forward to put faith in our home grown players.

We’ve seen already from each of these players that they have talent and more importantly, understand what is expected and how to play for our club. This has come from the top, with our current manager being a mentor to all three of these players while he was the Under 21’s coach. It also shows why the club are taking their time in finding the next development coach, since the role has come into play we have had five players progress and play a part for our first team; Fred Onyedinma, Jack Powell, Aiden O’Brien, Sid Nelson and Jamie Philpot. Not forgetting Ben Thompson and Alfie Pavey who also got valuable minutes last season. As a younger fan it’s great to see our own come through, Nelson in particular being a ‘Wall fan, performs in the manner a lot of us would also do if we were lucky enough to be in that situation. Throwing himself into 50-50’s, putting his body on the line, it shows how much the club means to him, which is why he will be a future club captain. The image below says it all after Wolves Away..

Guess that covers all for today! June will surely have lots of transfers, so I’ll try my best to bring you a post every day! You can follow my blog by subscribing through email below. Thank you for reading and if you have anything to say please share your views!
